I am thrilled to launch a new project, Table of the Month, which I have been working on with my talented friend Anne of Charleston Stems. Each month, we plan to design and photograph an inspiration table using seasonal flowers and readily-available pieces.
This month's table was pulled together from a few of Anne's favorite personal items from her own collection. We knew we wanted to use her Bleus d'ailleurs Hermes dessert plates which we found paired well with the Ralph Lauren blue glasses. A splash of hot pink in the napkin complemented Anne's selection of flowers: ranunculus, poppies, sweet peas, allium.
The West Elm mercury votives seen below soften the scene and pair well with Anne's crystal vase.
Anne used Kumquats in her arrangements, they ripen in late winter and are perfect to bring color and warmth to a table when it's chilly out. Although best used in jellies, an adventurous guest might like to try a bite. The sour fruit contrasts with the sweet peel, it is a treat that should be enjoyed whole!
Coconut cupcakes from Charleston's own Sugar Bakeshop seemed appropriately sweet for this colorful party.
